Review: Nivea in-shower body moisturiser

£2.56 from Boots
The concept of this product is fantastic. Simply apply in the shower after using your normal shower wash, rinse off, dry yourself down, get dressed and you're all ready to go. Nivea then are promising a product that eliminates those cold, miserable mornings of standing around feeling sticky and uncomfortable whilst waiting for your moisturiser to dry. Err, I'll be having that then please!

Pros:
- It smells soo good.
- Your skin is definitely left feeling silkier.
- I found that it worked quite nicely as a shaving cream.
- The price is good for the size of the bottle.

Cons:
- It does feel quite greasy when in the shower, although not once you've dried off.
- Tougher areas such as knees and elbows aren't really left feeling any different and need an additional moisturiser.
- It just doesn't do the job like a body lotion.

Verdict:
Although I will definitely be using this product in addition to my body lotion and not as a replacement, I'm still giving it a thumbs up. The reason is that I'm rubbish at moisturising and I know that sadly that's never going to change. Therefore, as this does leave your skin feeling softer it is perfect for those in between days when moisturising is just never going to happen. The hitch is that without using any other body moisturising product my skin has still started to dry out, and so Nivea's promise that there is 'no need to apply an additional body lotion' is simply not true. There may be no need to apply one everyday, but every now and then I will unfortunately still have to go through that uncomfortable, and oh so slightly miserable process of moisturising my body. Shame.

I'd be interested to know whether any of you have tried this product and if so, what you think about it. Also, if anyone has some alternatives to try and soften my dislike for moisturising (and therefore help soften my skin... sorry that was bad...) I would love to hear them!

Essie x

  1. I pondered over buying this on my last trip to the supermarket and opted out, but now I'm slightly regretting that after reading this. Will have to get some next time :)

    1. I'd love to hear what you think if you do get some! It's taken me some time to make up my mind about it but now I've figured out that it's not a replacement for body lotion I'm liking it more xx

  3. I actually reviewed this recently too! I really like this at the moment, mainly because it's winter here and this is just making my life so much easier (no more standing around applying moisturiser after the shower, freezing to death)
Though I have to say it feels a little strange on - some of the main ingredients are waxes, so it does leave you with a kind of waxy-coating. I actually kind of like the feel though, haha

    1. I totally agree with you! I think as winter comes round I will start to use this product more and more but you're right, it does feel a little odd doesn't it? xx

  4. Good review Essie, I like how you set it out!
I tried this the other month & it wasn't bad but I don't think I'd bother buying it myself. It felt nice enough but not remarkably so - not enough to make me want to go out and keep buying it, anyway!
I actually rarely moisturise my body because I can't BEAR to be greasy - especially in bed! I probably should moisturise more!

    1. Moisturising is such a faf isn't it? I wish I could get away with not, but my skin just dries out too fast otherwise. Glad you enjoyed the review :) xx

  6. I got a sample of this in a magazine and thought it was amazing. I went out and bought it and now I'm not so impressed :( I agree with you - I'm still going to use it, but in addition to body lotion! x

  7. I tried this body moisturizer but I will not call it the best body moisturizer in the market. This is not that good and there are many other moisturizers far better than this.
